World MissionAt St Martin's we believe that giving to groups and situations beyond our own parish is very important. Therefore each year we give 10% of our income to various Christian projects and missionary agencies. For 2010 we will carry on supporting Crosslinks, Global Care, Tearfund and Youth for Christ (Coventry).
Each year we also have a Missionary Project that we try to get practically involved in. St. Martin’s Church Missionary Project 2009 - Achievement For 2009 we supported Mercy Ships in Benin. Our target was to fund the training of 4 local Childcare medical officers to dianose and treat common conditions amongst children, at a cost of £3332. By the end of the year we raised the amount of £3480, in fact a further amount is still to be claimed on Gift Aid. Our thanks go to everyone who has supported this project.
St. Martin's Church Missionary Project 2010 - SOWING SEEDS MINISTRIES Sowing seeds Ministries is a Christian charity that exists to bring the love of Christ to prisoners and ex-offenders. The charity has three main goals: 1. To bring hope to young people in trouble with the law and help them find faith and by helping reduce crime. 2. To provide help and support for the families of young people in prison. They also sufffer. 3. To work with young people in schools, youth clubs and wherever youngsters gather to promote a healthy mindset which recognises right from wrong. With our help S.S.M. can give young offenders hope that they can change the way they live and faith to make it happen. We are at present in conversations with S.S.M. to see what specific part of the work they do we can support and target.
